Tax Credit Exchange

Colorado Conservation Tax Credits

Colorado landowners earn up to $5 million in transferable state tax credits (Credits) when they donate a perpetual easement to maintain their property’s agricultural, open space, wildlife, historic or recreational values. Credits are issued at 90% of the value of the donated conservation easement, up to $5 million. They can be used in increments of up to $1.5 million each year. Landowners may apply Credits to lower their own state tax burden or they can transfer Credits to third parties to immediately monetize their value.

Attorneys running the Tax Credit Exchange (TCE) established the nation’s first Credit transfer market in 2000 and since that time have transferred $250 million Credits. TCE offers individuals and businesses seamless and successful navigation through the legal and procedural complexities of earning, selling, and buying Credits. Contact TCE early to best leverage our expertise in structuring and executing your Credit transfer.
